… in the winter is indescribably lovely. Away from Sapporo and the hordes of package-skiers – it’s a Hokkaido of wide white spaces that form heavenly slices of solitude. With insanely perfect powder. With fairytale onsens ringed by snow-laden firs.

With ryokans that feed you with unfailing politeness, the freshest giant scallops, the butteriest hairy crabs… and posssibly the best chocolates in the world in Royce 🙂

Where you take photographs in colour that look like this.

Cause the light off that that pure pure snow is that stark, that startling… everything looks monochromatic.

And the monorail is cleanly electric 🙂

And you never want to leave xox
